A miniature tribute to one of London’s most recognisable landmarks.

This 1980s deadstock brooch captures the iconic Tower Bridge in its dramatic opening position, allowing a passing ship to glide through the Thames beneath its raised bascules. Rendered in warm gold-tone metal, the piece beautifully translates the architectural grandeur of the bridge into a striking wearable sculpture.

Two finely detailed towers rise above the bridge deck, connected by the upper walkway, while below, a sculpted vessel passes through the open span. Beneath the structure, textured wave motifs evoke the flowing waters of the Thames, adding movement and depth to the composition.

Preserved in deadstock condition, the brooch has remained unworn since the 1980s — a pristine example of vintage costume jewellery inspired by London’s historic architecture.

Elegant, distinctive and richly symbolic, it is a jewel that quietly celebrates the spirit of the city.

Design Description

The brooch is crafted as a miniature architectural rendering of Tower Bridge, one of London’s most celebrated Victorian engineering achievements.

The twin neo-Gothic towers are finely sculpted with delicate window and structural details, capturing the character of the bridge’s historic design. Between them runs the iconic upper pedestrian walkway, a defining feature of the structure.

Below, the bridge is shown raised in its opening position, revealing a small ship passing through — a charming narrative detail that gives the piece a sense of movement and life.

At the base, layered textured wave patterns represent the River Thames, grounding the composition and adding visual richness.

The reverse reveals a classic rollover clasp, ensuring secure and comfortable wear.

At 7 cm wide, the brooch makes a noticeable statement while remaining elegant and wearable.

Provenance

These earrings come from a remarkable discovery — deadstock from a historic London jewellery warehouse that closed its doors in the late 1980s. Decades later, the warehouse was rediscovered and reopened, revealing untouched vintage inventory preserved exactly as it was when the business ceased operations.

Today, this archive supplies rare pieces to film and production houses such as Bridgerton, Joan, and other major costume productions, alongside a select circle of vintage dealers.

To encounter such pieces in unworn condition after more than four decades is exceptionally rare.
