Designer Vintage | Clip-On | 7 cm x 3 cm
A striking example of 1980s designer glamour, these extraordinary earrings by Frank Usher capture the exuberance and confident elegance that defined the decade.
At the centre sits a beautifully domed emerald-toned glass cabochon, its subtly textured surface giving the impression of carved jade or hammered gemstone. Surrounding it is a radiant halo of brilliant clear crystals that catch the light with every movement. From this luminous crown descend three delicate articulated strands of crystals, each ending in graceful leaf-shaped motifs pavé-set with stones — creating a fluid, almost botanical silhouette.
The movement is exquisite.
As the wearer turns her head, the crystal strands sway gently, reflecting light in soft flashes — an effect that feels both dramatic and refined.Despite their presence, these earrings are remarkably comfortable. The clip-on mechanism is secure yet gentle, designed for long wear without discomfort. They are very well constructed — not flimsy — yet surprisingly lightweight, a hallmark of thoughtful designer costume jewellery of the period.
About Frank Usher
The British label Frank Usher rose to prominence in the mid-20th century, known for elegant eveningwear and beautifully designed accessories worn at society events and formal occasions. The brand became synonymous with occasion dressing — glamorous, sophisticated pieces created to complement couture silhouettes. Jewellery such as this was designed not merely as adornment, but as a finishing flourish to a memorable evening look.
Today, Frank Usher pieces from the late 20th century are increasingly appreciated by collectors for their distinctive design, quality construction, and unmistakable vintage glamour.
Styling
These earrings lend themselves beautifully to several looks:
• Evening elegance — with a sleek black dress or silk gown, allowing the emerald centre stones to glow against dark fabric.
• Modern minimalism — worn with a crisp white shirt or tailored blazer, letting the earrings become the focal point.
• Vintage glamour — paired with a satin blouse or draped silk dress for a look reminiscent of 1980s cocktail soirées.
• Hair swept up — a chignon, bun, or tucked-behind-the-ear hairstyle allows the cascading crystal strands to move and sparkle freely. They have that rare quality collectors seek — presence without heaviness, drama without excess.
A pair that feels at home at an evening reception, a candlelit dinner, or a celebration where one wishes to be quietly unforgettable.

Provenance
These earrings come from a remarkable discovery — deadstock from a historic London jewellery warehouse that closed its doors in the late 1980s. Decades later, the warehouse was rediscovered and reopened, revealing untouched vintage inventory preserved exactly as it was when the business ceased operations.
Today, this archive supplies rare pieces to film and production houses such as Bridgerton, Joan, and other major costume productions, alongside a select circle of vintage dealers.
To encounter such pieces in unworn condition after more than four decades is exceptionally rare.
