These dramatic baroque-inspired earrings were created in late-1980s Europe by the very same revered costume jewellery manufacturer behind some of the era’s most theatrical archival designs - a maison whose ateliers closed before the decade ended, leaving behind extraordinary deadstock pieces that never entered commercial circulation.

Untouched for decades, this pair was rediscovered within a London archive now known for supplying original vintage jewellery to theatre, television, and film productions internationally.

The pair was notably worn by Sophie Turner in the ITV drama Joan, whose lavish 1980s styling revived the glamour, excess, and cinematic seduction of the decade. The resemblance feels unmistakably aligned with the world of the series - bold gold jewellery, unapologetic femininity, and women who dressed with intention rather than caution.

The design itself is magnificent in scale and movement.
An ornate Fleur-de-Lis-inspired silhouette unfolds into elaborate baroque scrollwork, sculpted in rich triple gold-plated gilt metal with remarkable depth and dimensionality. The earrings possess a fluidity to their carving - almost reminiscent of molten gold frozen mid-motion.

The upper clasp features a shell-inspired motif, elegantly curved and beautifully proportioned against the dramatic dangling body below. Together, the composition evokes elements of aristocratic European interiors, antique gilded mirrors, palace ornamentation, and couture jewellery sketches from the late glamour years of the twentieth century.

And despite their scale, they remain surprisingly wearable - lightweight on the ear with secure clip-on fittings designed for comfort.

The Woman Who Wears Them

She does not apologise for glamour.
She understands that some evenings deserve gold.

Perhaps she wears them with black velvet and a swept chignon for dinner beneath chandelier light. Or perhaps with an oversized white shirt and tailored trousers, allowing the earrings alone to carry the drama.

They belong to women who understand adornment as theatre—women who know that style is often less about trend and more about unforgettable silhouette.
