A study in restraint—until it isn’t.
This 1980s gold-plated set carries a beautifully balanced silhouette, where a fluid, almost ribbon-like chain is punctuated by delicate rosette motifs. The design flows with quiet sophistication—refined, composed, and unmistakably vintage in its sensibility.
And then, at the centre, the mood shifts.
A vivid rosette cluster emerges—set with rich pink Swarovski crystals, anchored by a striking cobalt blue centre. The same floral motif is echoed in the matching earrings, creating a harmony that feels both intentional and effortlessly elegant.
And it does not stand alone.
The set is completed with perfectly matching floral drop earrings, mirroring the same crystal-set rosette design—creating a cohesive, considered pairing rather than an afterthought.
It is this balance—of restraint and detail, structure and softness—that defines the piece
It is this contrast that defines the piece—subtlety, gently interrupted by brilliance.
Sourced from London as part of our Forgotten London Edit, this set traces back to a closed warehouse of a former jewellery supplier whose pieces were once used across period productions, including Bridgerton. The aesthetic reflects that world—romantic, feminine, and quietly opulent, with just the right touch of theatrical charm.
Styling Notes:
- Wear it with an open neckline—silk shirts, soft chiffons, or a structured blouse—where the chain can follow the collarbone naturally and the central rosette becomes the focal point.
- For evenings, it pairs beautifully with a clean strapless or off-shoulder silhouette, allowing the colour play of the crystals to stand out against bare skin.
Keep the rest restrained. No heavy layering—this set is designed to be worn on its own. If you wish to build around it, stay within delicate gold accents or a single slim bracelet.
Hair tied back or softly swept away works best—the earrings deserve to be seen.
- It is equally compelling with Indian wear—particularly fluid sarees or understated lehengas—where the floral motif subtly echoes traditional aesthetics, without becoming literal.
Provenance
These earrings come from a remarkable discovery — deadstock from a historic London jewellery warehouse that closed its doors in the late 1980s. Decades later, the warehouse was rediscovered and reopened, revealing untouched vintage inventory preserved exactly as it was when the business ceased operations.
Today, this archive supplies rare pieces to film and production houses such as Bridgerton, Joan, and other major costume productions, alongside a select circle of vintage dealers.
To encounter such pieces in unworn condition after more than four decades is exceptionally rare.
