An extraordinary 1980s deadstock brooch, handpicked in London and preserved in completely untouched, unworn condition for over four decades.
Designed in an opulent sculptural form reminiscent of the ornate pagdi brooches once adorned by Maharajas, the piece carries a distinctly regal and ceremonial character. Its richly baroque curves, sweeping elongated silhouette, and elaborate gold-toned framework create the grandeur of heirloom court jewellery and royal insignia.
At the centre sits a striking black enamel detailing that lends depth and dramatic contrast to the design, beautifully framed by the ornate gold-toned sculptural work surrounding it. Delicate imitation pearl drops suspend gracefully below, softening the bold structure with movement and old-world elegance, while brilliant crystal embellishments catch light beautifully from every angle.
Measuring approximately 7 cm in length and 4 cm in width, it is beautifully substantial while remaining elegant in wear.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this collectible creation is its versatility. While originally designed as a brooch, it can also be styled effortlessly as a pendant, hat brooch, sleeve ornament, scarf jewel, collar accent, bag adornment, or even as a decorative charm.
A true collector’s treasure from a glamorous bygone era - untouched by time, unworn, and increasingly impossible to source in such pristine deadstock condition today.
Provenance
These earrings come from a remarkable discovery - deadstock from a historic London jewellery warehouse that closed its doors in the late 1980s. Decades later, the warehouse was rediscovered and reopened, revealing untouched vintage inventory preserved exactly as it was when the business ceased operations.
Today, this archive supplies rare pieces to film and production houses such as Bridgerton, Joan, and other major costume productions, alongside a select circle of vintage dealers.
To encounter such pieces in unworn condition after more than four decades is exceptionally rare.
